1956, the first tablet (with handwriting recognition technology) was publicly demonstrated. Seems we have made a long journey. If I am not wrong the historic root is even deep. The first patent for tablet like system that recognized handwritten characters by analyzing the handwriting motion was granted in 1915. Things been evolved drastically ever since. Some colossal name like Pencept , GO corp made their appearance way before mighty Apple Computer initiated its first tablet project in 1987. For a supposedly ‘new’ style of computing, tablets have a lengthy and convoluted heritage.

 

When it hit the Indian ground

Though the concept of tablet pc is not too old in India, computing technology has created several benchmarks in past few years. With the growing number of smart phone users, tablet pc has slowly secured its position and earned tremendous popularity among youths in recent time. Tablets are currently the pinnacle of mobile technology.

What are the companies to approach first

With an initiative to link 25,000 colleges and 400 universities in an e-learning program, Government of India promotes Akash a.k.a ubislate, the first Android technology – based tablet computer in New Delhi on 5th October 2011. Ever since several foreign entities like Apple, Microsoft, Lenovo, Samsung, Asus entered the Indian market sensing the huge demand and business possibility. Over the years they have established strong fan base with their best offers.
