Self-Driving Cars To Be A Reality Soon

When we were children, the TV Series Knight Rider starring David Hasselhoff fascinated us as it was about an intelligent car that could talk via artificial intelligence.

Although science is yet to create a talking car, the intelligent car that can drive itself without a driver is going to be a reality in near future.

Recently, there was news about Google suing Uber for stealing its idea of a driverless car after a former Google employee leaked the idea to Uber and Uber started working on this idea. Uber is struggling to prevent this lawsuit from going to trial as Uber can lose big time in court.

This incident has shown that smart cars are not fairy tale stuff in a world where smartphones exist.

In last ten years, the rise in sales and usage of smartphones and tablets has fundamentally transformed the business semiconductor devices. The market is big. Many brands are there. Retaining profitability is a struggle for every brand. Different brands are earning Lion‘s share in profit in the market of smartphones, components, and equipment. For example, Apple and Samsung are dominating most of the smartphone market and Qualcomm dominates the components market.

However, the self-driving car is an emerging market in which all major brands wish to enter and it remains to be seen that who will enter first or whether all brands would enter together. The growth of Self-Driving Cars as a market will also create markets for the development of Artificial Intelligence, IoT, and electronic microchips.

With the emergence of IoT technology, the market for electronic microchip vendors is increasing. Given the fact that Tesla already has its Autopilot feature in the market, Alphabet‘s Wyamo Project is considering the idea of teaming up with Honda and introduce self-driving cars out by 2020.
